The service
Mingzi offers a free directory of Chinese names, guides, a free name converter and a free name generator, and paid personalized naming from the Mingzi Naming Agent (AI) or the Mingzi Naming Expert (a person).
Accounts
You're responsible for your account and for keeping your password safe. Give accurate information when you create an account.
About names and meanings
Name meanings, cultural notes and suggestions are our best judgment and general information. They are not legal, linguistic certification or official translation services. Names may not be unique, and we don't check trademarks or legal registration. Please review any name carefully before permanent uses such as tattoos, signage or legal documents.
Paid services
Prices are shown before you pay and charged once. There are no subscriptions.
- Names from the Mingzi Naming Agent are created by our AI naming agent after you pay and checked automatically, as described in our naming methodology. They are suggestions for you to judge, not a promise that every reader will like a name.
- Names from the Mingzi Naming Expert are chosen by a person after you pay and delivered to your account within 7 business days, with one revision on request within 7 days of delivery.
Refunds follow our refund policy.
Your use of names
Names you find or generate on Mingzi are yours to use. Content on the site (text, data and design) belongs to Mingzi and may not be copied in bulk or republished without permission.
Acceptable use
Don't misuse the service: no scraping at scale, no attempts to break security, and no use of the service to harass others.
Limitation of liability
The service is provided as is. To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect losses arising from use of the service or of any name.
Changes
We may update these terms. The date above shows when they last changed. Continuing to use Mingzi means you accept the updated terms.
